Getting started

How does Tomato Friend work?

Set a session length by dragging the dial, or tap one of the presets (15, 25, 45 minutes, or a custom length). Press play and focus. When the session ends, you'll be offered a break — a short one after each session, and a longer one after every fourth. That cycle is the Pomodoro Technique, and the four dots on screen show where you are in it.

Do I need an account?

No. There's no sign-up, no login, and no cloud service. Open the app and start a timer.

Is it free?

Yes. Tomato Friend is completely free, with no ads, no subscriptions, and no in-app purchases.

Notifications

I'm not getting a notification when my session ends.

Check three things, in order:

  1. iOS Settings → Notifications → Tomato Friend — make sure Allow Notifications is on.
  2. Tomato Friend → Settings → Notifications — make sure session-end notifications are enabled.
  3. Focus modes. If your iPhone is in a Focus mode (Do Not Disturb, Work, Sleep), it may be silencing the alert. You can allow Tomato Friend through in iOS Settings → Focus → your mode → Apps.

Can I start the next session without opening the app?

Yes. When the session-complete notification arrives, press and hold it and tap Start Next. That begins your break — or your next focus session if you were on a break — without unlocking further.
